ABOUT ABOUT

The recently revised Hazard Communication standard has its first milestone coming up December 1, 2013.

That’s the deadline for training on the requirements of the new HazCom label elements and safety data sheet format.

The key element of this new rule is the “uniformity” of the labeling and SDS format (see sidebar).  This needs to be communicated to all workers.

In partnership with EMS Consulting, IMC is sponsoring a half-day “train-the-trainer” workshop designed to inform you of the training requirement for the December 1st deadline – and to provide you with the tools to do your in-house training.  You will be introduced to the new labels and SDS format and you will learn how to incorporate this into your own workplace communication activity.  You will use the presentation materials provided to meet these requirements.

The OSHA HazCom standard (1910.1200) now aligns more closely with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of classification & labeling of chemicals.  Its intent is to improve communication between countries, reduce worker confusion, simplify international trade, and reduce the cost of government enforcement.

Anyone responsible for HazCom compliance training will be coached by experienced safety professionals.  We’ll make it interesting, informative and fun!
